2,000 Years of History Another 2,000 Years of Future
The Sage of Medicine: Hua Tuo
In the hearts of Chinese people, Hua Tuo is not merely a historical figure; he is the divine "Sage of Medicine." Living during the chaotic Eastern Han Dynasty (approx. 200 AD), he was known for performing miracles with acupuncture and pioneering surgery centuries before the West.
Yet, he knew that in those turbulent times, ordinary people could rarely afford a good doctor. His deepest desire was to help people prevent illness before it started. So, he observed nature and created the Five Animal Daoyin (Wuqinxi)—a system predating Tai Chi by over a thousand years.
This was not random movement; it was a precise medical prescription. Hua Tuo designed each animal form to target specific internal organ systems and regulate different Jingluo (meridians) within the body. In doing so, he gave the common people a powerful method for prevention.
Today, carrying this 2,000-year-old lineage, I am the only person practicing this authentic system in the Western world. It is my honor to share this ancient wisdom with you, and I invite you to explore this path of true prevention together.
Yet, the very medical genius that created this life-saving system would eventually lead to his own tragic end—a fate intertwined with the most powerful warlord of the era.
The Healer and The Warlord
Cao Cao was a towering figure of that era. In a time of utter chaos, he was the brilliant strategist who unified Northern China, bringing order to a fractured land. Yet, this man who controlled an empire was helpless against agonizing, chronic headaches that tormented him daily.
He summoned Hua Tuo as his last hope. But their relationship was fraught with tension. Cao Cao, used to absolute command, wanted to keep the divine physician by his side as his personal doctor. Hua Tuo, however, resented being caged; his heart lay in treating the suffering common people, not just one powerful ruler.
Finally, to end the warlord's pain permanently, Hua Tuo drew upon his legendary invention of Mafeisan—the world's first herbal anesthesia. He proposed a radical solution: a craniotomy—opening the skull to surgically remove the root cause.
Put yourself in that ancient era for a moment. Would you trust someone to cut open your head, or would you choose to keep suffering? It was an unimaginable choice.
Tragically, a lifetime of warfare and betrayal had made Cao Cao deeply paranoid. Where Hua Tuo offered a life-saving scalpel with pure intentions, Cao Cao saw only an assassin's blade. Convinced the physician used the surgery as an excuse to murder him, he threw the sage into a dungeon to await death.
A Legacy Preserved in the Capital of Medicine
The scrolls were turned to ash, but the wisdom refused to die. Long before his imprisonment, Hua Tuo had already imprinted the movements of the Five Animal Daoyin onto his trusted disciples. For 2,000 years, this "living prescription" was preserved not in books, but in the bodies of practitioners—passed down master to disciple in the very sanctuary where it all began.
I was born on that sacred soil—Bozhou, China.
My hometown is officially recognized as the "Capital of Chinese Medicine," home to the world's largest herbal market. But Bozhou is more than a marketplace; it is a spiritual origin. It is the birthplace of Laozi, the founder of Taoism. It was here that he wrote the "Dao De Jing" (Tao Te Ching)—the ultimate classic on energy and the universe—and it was here that even Confucius (Kongzi) traveled to bow before him, seeking him as a mentor.
In this unique environment, Laozi’s philosophy of "The Tao" (Nature) intertwined with the science of Medicine, creating a culture where health is a daily lifestyle. We believe in "Medicine and Food from the same source" (药食同源)—eating herbal soups to balance the seasons and drinking herb-infused spirits to activate Qi.
It was the air of this place—thick with the scent of herbs, the wisdom of Laozi, and the spirit of Hua Tuo—that I breathed since childhood. Surrounded by this energy, I inherited the 59th Generation lineage. The movements I teach are the living fossil of that original system. Today, I am the only authentic lineage holder teaching this heritage in the Western world.
